About PRELIMS Academy
Preparing Robust Educators through Learning Integrative Math and Science, the PRELIMS Academy, is designed to expose high school students to the joy and rigor of teaching math or science. The two-week PRELIMS academy open to high school students who want to explore math and science teaching as a career option.

PRELIMS Academy Future Plans Survey

Why Participate?
High school students should participate to enhance their knowledge of STEM content while exploring the career of math or science education. Some students want to become teachers because they are inspired by their current teachers. Others want to become teachers because they are extremely passionate about certain subjects. Still others say they teach because they want to make an important contribution to society. Through participation in the PRELIMS Academy, you'll discover the benefits that math or science teaching can contribute to your future. In addition, the United States Department of Labor predicts that employment of  school teachers will grow by 12% between 2006 to 2016, especially in high demand subjects such as math and science.

What to Expect?
The content for the PRELIMS Academy  will include a series of integrated activities designed to enhance participants' knowledge of science, mathematics and pedagogy. Students who complete the academy will have access to on-line mentoring with the program teachers throughout the 2009-2010 school year.
Participants also will be invited to two days' follow-up activity at GCSU campus.
The 2009 PRELIMS Academy will be hosted through the week days from June 8th to 19th, with programming from 8am - 9pm.
